musee stella matutina
in der ehemaligen zuckerfabrik befindet sich das museum stella matutina, welches 2011 renoviert wurde und seit 2015 wieder geöffnet ist. die ausstellung zeigt die ursprünge des zuckerrohrs, die geschichte der insel bourbon vor der zeit des zuckers und die entwicklung der zuckerindustrie. noch interessanter als die ausstellung selbst ist es die alte zuckerfabrik von innen zu sehen, die größe der halle zu erleben und die gerätschaften der produktion zu begutachten. seit 1815 spielt der zucker eine entscheidende rolle auf la reunion.
at the former sugar refinery you can find the museum stella matutina, which was renovated in the year 2011 and is open since 2015. the exhibition shows the origin of the sugar cane, the history of the island bourbon before the decade of the sugar and the development of the sugar industry. even more interesting than the exhibition is to be inside of the big hall where the production of the sugar took place and to see the pipes and tools that were used for that. actually sugar plays an important role for the island since 1815.
saga du rhum
die brennerei saga du rhum wurde 1845 gegründet und ist somit die älteste brennerei auf der insel la reunion. das einzige rum-museum der insel zeigt die traditionelle produktion, die eng mit der geschichte der insel und ihren bewohnern verbunden ist. am ende des rundgangs kann gekostet werden.
the distillery saga du rhum was found in the year 1845 and is the oldest distillery of la reunion. furthermore it’s the only rum museum of the island. it shows the traditional production and the history of la reunion and the inhabitants. at the end of the tour it’s possible to taste some rum.
