puerto de mogan
der hafenort liegt im süden gran canarias und wurde 1983 nach einem entwurf von raphael neville errichtet. auf grund eines verbotes der regierung dürfen die häuser die direkt in puerto de mogan gebaut werden maximal 2 stockwerke hoch sein. höhere bauwerke und das shopping center wurden ein paar kilometer vom hafen entfernt errichtet. die archäologische zone canada de los gatos ermöglicht die besichtigung der ruinen einer prähispanischen siedlung und einen ausblick auf den gesamten ort. der faro de puerto de mogan befindet sich auf der spitze einer felswand die per auto oder zu fuss zugänglich ist. in den letzten jahren hat man versucht den ursprünglichen eindruck der stadt durch die errichtung postmoderner bauten zu verstärken. ich hätte einen stärkeren kontrast durch die errichtung von moderneren bauten bevorzugt. nichts desto trotz bietet das shopping center mit seinem aussen liegenden tragwerk einen spannenden anblick. die meisten shops sind zwar geschlossen bzw wurden nicht einmal fertiggestellt, allerdings hat man dadurch die möglichkeit alleine durch das gebäude zu gehen.
the city is located in the south of the island. it was designed by raphael neville and build in the year 1983. because of a prohibition from the government it’s not allowed to build houses that are higher than 2 floors at the port. however you can find higher buildings and the shopping center a few kilometers away. the archaeological area canada de los gatos enables you to see buildings from the prihispanic period and have a great view over the little city. as you can see the faro de puerto de mogan is located on the top of a mountain which can be reached by car or foot. during the last few years the government tried to strengthen the postmodern appearance of the city by building new houses in the same style. i think that it would have been more interestening to see the contrast to modern buildings instead. anyway the structure of the shopping center which is located outside of the building offers an fascinating view. most of the shops are closed or were not even finished so it’s possible to have a close look at the construction alone.
arguineguin
der ebenfalls im süden der insel gelegene ort ist weitaus weniger touristisch als die umliegenden. besonders herausstechend ist die zementfabrik die weiterhin in betrieb ist und sowohl von der playa de arguineguin als auch von der playa santa agueda, die beide über dunkelgrauen sand verfügen, zu sehen ist. mich faszinieren industriegebäude auf grund ihrer auslegung auf funktionalität. die fabrik ist ein reiner zweckbau bei dem es nichts gibt was nicht gebraucht wird und diese tatsache verstärkt die ästhetik dieses bauwerks. empfehlenswert ist ein blick auf das werk von bernd und hilla becher, da sich dieses mit der fotografie von Industriebauten beschäftigt hat.
the city is located in the south of gran canaria as well but it’s a lot less crowded and not a touristic hotspot at all. especially the cement plant is very attractive to look at. you can have a look at it from the dark sanded playa de arguineguin and the playa santa agueda. i’m fascinated by insdustrial buildings because they represent pure usefulness. every part is needed and important for the production. this fact increases the aesthetics of those constructiones. i recommend the work of bernd and hilla becher who took pictures of many industrial buildings.

der neben puerto de mogan gelegene ort ist nicht besonders gross und dennoch mit einigen mega hotels ausgestattet. eines davon wurde nicht fertiggestellt. der rohbau ist dominant ins gebirge eingefügt und hat dieselbe puristische ästhetik wie die unvollendeten wohnhäuser in griechenland.
the small city is located next to puerto de mogan and contains some big hotels. 1 of them was not finished. furthermore the building shell which is situated along the mountains has a very dominant appearance. the puristic aesthetics is similar to the unfinished constructions I have showed you in greece.
