gran canaria sur – este – norte
gran canaria wird als miniaturkontinent bezeichnet da die vegetaion und das klima stark variieren. der verhältnismässig grüne norden steht im kontrast zum dürren und felsigen rest der insel. im süden sind die dunas zu finden in deren mitte man sich wie in der wüste vorkommt. auf grund des vulkanischen ursprungs sind die felsformationen zum teil von sehr dunkler natur, dies erzeugt eine düstere grundstimmung vor allem bei nebel.
gran canaria is often called a small continent because of the different vegetation and climate. the comparatively green north is totally different than the rest of the island which is rather very dry and cliffy. in the south you can even find the dunas where you feel like in the desert. by reason of the vilcanic origin of the Island the rocks are very dark partly. that leads to a dark mood especially on a foggy day.
los faros
die 5 vollkommen unterschiedlichen leuchttürme sind über die gesamte insel verstreut. mit einer höhe von 56 metern ist der faro de maspalomas, der sich am ende der dunas befindet, der grösste von ihnen. die tatsache, dass der sich verjüngende zylinder einen mittleren durchmesser von 6 metern aufweist, lässt den turm besonders hoch wirken. 1889 wurde die gesamte anlage inklusive dem zweigeschossigen nebengebäude und dem tank für die lagerung des petroleums fertiggestellt. entworfen wurde der faro vom einheimischen architekten juan de león y castillo. da es sich hierbei ebenfalls um einen reinen zweckbau handelt ist auch hier die ästhetik im minimalismus zu finden.
the 5 lightshouses are located around the whole island and look totally different. with a hight of 56 meters the faro de maspalomas which is located at the end of the dunas is the highest of them. because of the form of a reducing cylinder the tower looks even higher. the whole construction with the tower and the outbuilding with it’s 2 floors was build in the year 1889. furthermore it was designed by the native architect juan de leon y castillo. because of the fact that this structure is a functional building only you can find the beauty in the minimalism.
los pueblos blancos
immer wieder sind kleiner dörfer zu sehen die ausschliesslich aus rein weissen häuschen bestehen. diese wirken schon fast surreal und bilden einen kontrast zur grünen umgebung im norden der insel und auch zum dunklen stein im süden. die ästhetik einer derartigen siedlung ist unbeschreiblich. die reinheit der farbe weiss ist ohnehin unübertroffen. aufgelassene bananenplantagen sind vor allem im norden der insel zu finden. wenn der wind geht strahlen die zerrissenen planen eine gewisse mystik aus und erzeugen eine horrorfilm ästhetik. i‘ve been „lost in plantation“.
little villages with constantly white houses are located all over the island. these seem to be surreal and create a contrast to the green surrounding in the north and the dark stones at the rest. the white houses lead to a enormous aesthetics. furthermore the pureness of the colour white is unexcelled anyway. abondoned plantations are spread especiallyin the north of the island. when the wind blows through the construction the toren fabrics create mysticism and the feeling of a horror film. i’ve been “lost in plantation”.
auditorium las tirajanas
das auditorium las tirajanas ist teil der expomeloneras die über 24 konzertsäle verfügt. auf grund der elektronisch gesteuerten trennwände und beweglichen bühnen im inneren lässt sich das auditorium an jeden bedarf anpassen. weiters ermöglicht die konstruktion einen allseitigen zugang. die aufeinander treffenden baukörper, die aus verschiedenen geometrischen formen bestehen ergeben eine spannende komposition. der runde abschluss des auskragenden daches ist überflüssig und wirkt ein wenig wie ein fremdkörper. wohingegen die kombination der materialien der verschiedenen gebäudeteile einen spannenden kontrast bildet.
the auditorium las tirajanas is a part of the expomeloneras and has 24 concert halls. because of the electronic walls and the movable stages it’s possible to adapt the auditorium to every event. furthermore the construction enables the audiance to enter the building on every side. the meeting parts of the structure which follow different geometrical shapes lead to an exciting composition. unfortunatelly the roung end of the overhanging roof seems more like a foreign body. on the other hand the mixture of the materials brings tension to the appearnce of the complex.
