1966 erbaute der küstler cesar manrique die kunst- und kulturstätte namens jameos del agua. diese teilweise eingestürzte lavaröhre befindet sich im lavafeld des vulkans monte corona und beinhaltet ein restaurant und ein museum mit einer ausstellung zur geschichtlichen entstehung der kanarischen inseln. in der mitte der anlage ist ein unterirdischer see zu sehen, der eine weisse krebsart beheimatet, die sonst nur in ozeanischen tiefen von 2000 metern lebt. die geamte lavaröhre in der sich der complex befindet reicht vom monte corona bis zur küste unter der meeresoberfläche.
the artist Cesar Manrique designed the art and culture site called Jameos del Agua in 1966. this partially collapsed lava tube is located in the lava field of the volcano monte corona and includes a restaurant and a museum with an exhibition about the history of the canary islands. In the center of the complex you can find an underground lake, which is home to a white crab that lives only in oceanic depths of 2000 meters. the entire lava tube in which the complex is located extends from the monte corona to the coast under the sea surface.

zum zeitpunkt der erbauung, in der mitte der 1970er jahre, galt das gebäude des mirador del rio als eines der modernsten bauwerke det welt. der aussichtspunkt befindet sich im norden der insel, auf einer höhe von 475 metern über dem meeresspiegel. entworfen wurde das nur aus rundungen bestehende gebäude vom lanzarotischen künstler cesar manrique, jesus soto nd dem architekten eduardo caceres. das cafe mit gewölbten panoramascheiben bietet einen beeindruckenden ausblick auf die insel la graciosa und ein spannendes raumerlebnis im inneren.
