cova d’en xoroi
bei den cuevas handelt es sich um künstlich erschaffene höhlen, die etwa 3000 v.ch. angelegt wurden. eine von diesen höhlen, die meistens aus einem zigarrenförmigen Hauptraum mit mehreren nischen bestehen, wurde zu einem lokal mit bar und chillout-bereich umfunktioniert. sowohl die artifiziellen als auch die naturhöhlen auf den balearen wurden anfänglich zu wohnzwecken und später kultisch genutzt. durch die navetakultur wurden die cuevas in freilandarchitektur übertragen, bis sie schlussendlich ab 1400 v. chr. weitgehend aufgegeben wurden und später in form der taulas nach Menorca zurückkehrten. heute bietet die cova d’en xoroi eine aussergewöhnliche location auf halber höhe zwischen meer und himmel mit einem wunderschönen ausblick auf den sonnenuntergang.
the cuevas are artificially created caves, which were created since 3000 bc. one of these caves, which mostly consist of a cigar-shaped main room with many alcoves, was converted into a bar with a chillout area. both the artificial and the natural cavities on the balears were initially used for residential purposes and later for cultic rituals. by the navetakultur the cuevas were transferred into outdoor architecture, till they finally were abandoned at 1400 bc. later they returned to Menorca in the form of the taulas. today the cova d’en xoroi offers an exceptional location at half height between sea and sky, with a beautiful view at the sunset.
