arenal d’en castell
der strand arenal d’en castell befindet sich in der gemeinde es mercadal im norden der insel. menorca wird von zwei regionen geprägt, den bergen im norden (tramuntana) und dem hügelland im süden (migjorn). der norden ist auf grund von geologischen faltungen schroff und die zerklüftete küste generiert einige naturhäfen. die fast ausschliesslich weisse und kleinteilige bebauung von punt grossa und umgebung bietet ein einheitliches erscheinungsbild und erzeugt einen kontrast zur natürlichen felslandschaft der region. die gebäude, die sich in oder auf den klippen befiden sind funktional und einfach gehalten. umgeben wird das areal von einem pinienwald.
the beach arenal d’en castell is located in the community of es mercadal in the north of the island. menorca consists of two different regions, the mountins in the north (tramuntana) and the hill country in the south (migjorn). furthermore the north is cliffy and full of natural harbours because of the geological folding. the houses at punta grossa and the surrounding area are mostly white and small. they create a contrast to the wall rocks of the region. however the buildings are located in or on the top of the cliffs and are rather functional with small windows. a pine-tree wood surrounds the area.
