tel aviv museum of art – preston scott cohen
der von preston scott cohen entworfene zubau für das tel aviv museum of art wurde 2011 eröffnet. die aus 465 drei- und viereckigen sichtbeton-platten, sowie zahlreichen fensteröffnungen, bestehende hülle wirkt mit ihrer neokubistisch kristallinen form wie ein exzentrisch geschliffener diamant. des weiteren könnte man meinen es handelt sich um eine skizze und nicht ein tatsächlich ausgeführtes gebäude. nur die patina der betonelemente verleiht dem bauwerk den eindruck von einer realen konstruktion. im inneren stellt das 27 m hohe atrium einen gegensatz zu den klassischen galerieräumen dar. der anblick der fassade mit ihren geometrischen elementen, die durch besonders breite fugen, sichtbar voneinander getrennt werden ist durchaus spannend und speziell an diesem standort.
the annex to the tel aviv museum of art was designed by preston cohen scott and opened in the year 2011. furthermore the facade consists of 465 tri- and rectangular elements that are made of exposed concrete and several windows. the construction of the new cubistic crystalline form looks like an eccentric sanded diamond. in addition the building seems like a sketch rather than a realized structure. only the concretes patina gives the work the impression of a real building. in the interior space the 27 m high atrium represents the contrast to the classical exhibition rooms. also the geometrical elements of the cover that are separated by wide joints offer a dynamic and special view in the surrounding area.
