torre di san niccolo – arnolf di cambio
das tor von san nicollo diente als eingang in die stadt florenz und war teil der alten stadtmauer. der im mittelalter erbaute turm wurde von arnolf die cambio entworfen und im jahr 1324 fertiggestellt. als die 8 kilometer lange stadtmauer noch in betrieb war gab es in regelmässigen abständen eingänge mit türmen wie diesen, insgesamt 14 stück. allerdings ist nur noch der torre di san niccolo in seiner originalen höhe von 60 m erhalten. direkt hinter dem bauwerk ist der berg namens san miniato zu finden von dem aus ein wunderschöner anblick auf florenz mit all seinen charakteristischen bauwerken geboten wird.
the gate called san nicollo was used as an entrance to the city of florence and has been a part of the former city wall. furthermore the tower was designed by arnolf die cambio, build during the middle ages and finished in the year 1324. there used to be 14 entrances like this to florence, when the 8 kilometers long city wall was operating. nowadays there is only the torre san niccolo left that still has the original height of 60 meters. behind the example of architecture you can find the mountain called san miniato from which there is a grat view over the whole city and its characteristic architecture.
ponte vecchio
die brücke namens ponte vecchio gilt als eine der ältesten segmentbogenbrücken der welt und ist die älteste brücke die über den fluss arno in florenz führt. auf dem ponte sind kleine häuschen zu finden die auf grund ihrer größe und proportionen eher wie spielzeug klötze wirken. in diesen bauten befinden sich geschäfte die alle möglichen güter anbieten. doch in den frühen morgenstunden befindet sich kaum jemand auf der brücke und sie kann ohne menschenmassen besichtigt werden.
the bridge named ponte vecchio is one of the oldest arched lintel bridges in the world and the oldest bridge that leads over the river arno in florence. directly on the ponte there are little houses that seem to be toys because of their size and proportions. little shops are inside of the houses. if you visit the construction early in the morning, it’ possible to see the bridge without any people on it.
palazzo medici riccardi – michelozzo
im jahr 1444 gab die familie medici den bau des palazzo medici riccardi bei michelozzo in auftrag. es handelt sich hierbei um den ersten profanbau der frührenaissance in florenz. das gebäude wird horizontal durch 3 geschosse mit unterschiedlicher mauerung gegliedert. das bauwerk ist ein typisches beispiel für die architektur von bürgerlichen palästen der frührenaissance und sollte auf wunsch der medici nicht zu prachtvoll ausgeführt werden um den neid der anderen patrizierfamilien nicht zu erregen. etwa 20 jahre baute michelozzo an diesem palast.
in the year 1444 the medicis instructed michelozzo with the construction of the palazzo medici riccardi. actually this building is the first profane structure of the early renaissance in florence. the different wallings of the three floors divide the building horizontally. furthermore this construction is a characteristic one for the civil palaces of the early renaissance. the medicis didn’t want it to be too pompous so that the jealousy of the other patrician families wouldn’t increase. it took michelozzo over 20 years to finish the building.
