louvre – ieoh ming pei
die glaspyramide im innenhof des musee du louvre wurde von ieoh ming pei entworfen und 1989 eröffnet. trotz der anfänglichen bezeichnung des zubaus als gewäschshaus oder auch käseglocke, ist die konstruktion zu einem wahrzeichen der stadt geworden und dient als haupteingang für das museum. bereits 1793 wurde die sammlung in der ehemaligen residenz der französischen könige, im zuge der französischen revolution, für das publikum zugänglich gemacht. desweiteren ist das drittgrösste museum der welt zugleich das meistbesuchte. die glaspyramide wirkt trotz ihrer modernen konstruktion nicht wie ein fremdkörper in ihrer barocken umgebung. im gegenteil sie fügt sich auf grund ihrer transparenz in das enssamble ein, lässt aus der ferne blicke auf die pompösen gebäude der umgebung zu und spiegelt diese wenn man sich dem objekt nähert wieder.
the pyramid, that is made out of glas and lockated in the yard of the museum named louvre, was designed by ieoh ming pei and openend in the year 1989. even though the construktion was called greenhous in the beginning it is a sight of paris now and forms the main entrance to the museum. alredy 1793 the collection that was and still is lockated in the residence of the french kings, could be seen by the public because of the french revolution. furthermore the thrid biggest museum in the world ist the one that is visited the most. even though the construction of the pyramid is modern ist doesn’t seem like a foreign objekt in the baroque surrounding. the building integrates into the komplex because of it’s transparency. when you stand far away you can see through the facade and on the other hand it reflects the surroinding when you come closer to the object.
center pompidou – renzo piano
das von renzo piano entworfene museum für moderne kunst wurde 1977 eröffnet. die besenderheit des gebäudes ist, dass sowohl das tragwerk als auch die gebäudetechnik an der aussenseite angeordnet sind. durch verschiedene farben werden die funktionen unterschieden. wobei das tragwerk und die belüftungsrohre weiss, die erschliessungdelemente rot, die elektrik gelb, die wasserrohre grün und die klimaanlage blau bemalt sind. dieser neue fassadentypus ermöglicht einen Innenraum der weitgehend stützenfrei ist und dadurch eine flexible nutzung zulässt. ausserdem verläuft die rote rolltreppe, die sich an der vorderseite des bauwerks befindet, diagonal über die gesamte fassade. obwohl die kosntruktion zum zeitpunkt ihrere entstehung umstritten war, da es sich fast schon um industrielle architektur handelt und diese formensprache von einigen zeitgenossen als unpassend für den ort und die funktion erachtet wurde, wird es zurecht als erste bedeutende loslösung von der moderne, sowie postmoderne verstanden. des weiteren waren in pianos entwurf höhenverstellbare stockwerke sowie ein grosser bildschirm an der fassade vorgesehen, allerdings wurde auf diese gadgets aus geldmangel verzichtet. mit sicherheit liefert dieses bauwerk einen wichtigen beitrag zur entwicklung der architektur, nach dem minimalismus der moderne, ohne dabei auf jegliche art von ornament zurückzugreifen. in der romantischen umgebung der pariser innenstadt wirkt die kostruktion einwenig fremd und das macht sie umso interessanter.
the museum for modern art in paris has been designed by renzo piano and openend in the year 1977. especially the fact that the construction and the building technology are lockated outside of the building and can be seen from the street makes this museum special. furthermore the functions of the thechnology are marked by coloures. the constrction and ventilation are white, the staires are red, the electrical system is yellow, the pipes are green and the aircon is blue. this new type of a facade makes the interior space very flexible because there are less pillars inside of the building. besides the red escalator is lockated on the front facade and goes from one end of the structure to the other. even though the construction was controversial at the beginning because it didn’t seem to be apropriate for the place and function for some people, it is seen as the first detachment from the modern and postmodern architecture. renzo piano designed the flors with a flexible hight and he wanted to place a big screen at the front of the building but these gadgets were not realized because of the lack of money. for sure this structure did bring an important input to the architecture scene when it was build. in it’s romantic surrounding of the inner city of paris it seems like an alien but that makes it even more interesting.
institut du monde arabe – jean nouvel
das institut der arabischen welt wurde von jean nouvel entworfen und machte ihn international bekannt. 1989, zwei jahre nach der eröffnung, erhielt nouvel den aga khan award for architecture für sein gebäude. die südliche high-tech-fassade besteht aus glas hinter dem tausende irisblenden angeordnet sind, die den einfall des sonnenlichts regulieren, indem sie sich computergesteuert stufenlos öffen und schliessen. desweiteren griff nouvel beim design der blenden auf das motiv der maschrabiyya aus der arabischen architektur zurück und vereinte damit die traditionelle ornamentik mit einer innovativen fassade.
the instutute of the arabic world was designed by jean nouvel and popularised him internationally. in the year 1989, two years after the opening, nouvel recived the aga khan award for architecture for his design. the southern high-tech-facade constits of thousands of iris blinds that are lockated behind a glas cover. they can be opened and closed by a computer to regulate the incidence of light. furthermore nouvel used the maschrabiyya, that is used in the arabic architecture, for the design of the blends and combined the traditional ornament with a innovative facade concept.
