metro bilbao und umgebung – norman foster
die gesamte neue u-bahn linie von bilbao wurde von norman foster entworfen und 1995 eröffnet. besonders wichtig waren für foster 3 aspekte: einfachheit, funktionalität und ästhetik. aus diesem grund sind die stationen weiträumig und klar gestaltet. desweiteren verwendete foster nahezu ausschliesslich stahl, beton und glas. diese 3 materialien waren in der postmoderne sehr populär. die stationen befinden sich aus energiespargründen und der besseren zugänglichkeit möglichst an der oberfläche. besondere wert wurde auch auf den natürlichen lichteinfall gelegt, wenn dies möglich war. eine besonderheit sind die muschelförmigen eingänge, die von der bevölkerung den namen „fosterito“ bekamen. schon im jahr 1988 erhielt foster für seinen entwurf den brunel award for railway architecture. die stationen wirken industriell, clean und einheitlich. ein sehr passendes gelungenes gesamt konzept.
the whole new metro in bilbao was designed by norman foster and opened in the year 1995. of particular importance were 3 aspects: simplicity, functionality and aesthetics. that’s why the stations are spacious and clear. furthermore foster used 3 materials that were very popular in the postmodernism: steel, concrete and glass. the stations are lockated on the surface to save power and for a better accessibility. where ever it’s possible you can see the incidence of natural light. in addition the entrances look like a shell and are called “fosteritos” by the population. foster received the brunel award for railway architecture alredy in the year 1988. the stations look industrial, clean and uniformly. all in all the concept is very suitable and successful.
bilbao exhibition centre – acxt architects
das bilbao exhibition centre is das hauptquartier der feria de muestras de bilbao. die anlage wurde von acxt architects entworfen und im jahr 2004 eröffnet. desweiteren war das gebäude mit dem bec turm zur zeit der eröffnung das höchste des baskischen landes. im oberen bereich des 98 meter hohen turmes befinden sich büros und ein restaurante. seit jahr 2009 geht der titel des höchsten gebäudes an den torre iberdrola. das gesamte zentrum besteht aus konstruktionen mit einfacher und cleaner architektur. nur durch das spiel mit verschiedenen materialien werden die elemente speziell und interessant.
the bilbao exhibition centre (bec) is the headquarter of the feria de muestras de bilbao. It was designed by acxt architects and opened in the year 2004. furthermore the 98 meters high bec tower was the tallest building of the basque country, when it was openend. in 2009 the torre iberdrola turned to be the highest building. a restaurant and the offices of the bec company are located on the top. the whole centre consists of buildings with very clear architecture. only the different materials make the elements special and interesting.
