der stadtteil chinatown befindet sich direkt im zentrum singapurs und bietet einen kontrast zu den sci-fi bauten der marina bay. die meist 2-stöckigen gebäude folgen einer komplett anderen art von gestaltung. im gesamten viertel gibt es marktstände bei denen allerlei krimskrams erstanden werden kann. in singapur sind selbst die seitengassen blitz blank und von müll befreit. das national stadion wurde von dp architects entworfen und im jahr 2014 eröffnet. besonders interessant ist die zurück schiebbare dachkonstruktion, die wie eine schwebende schicht auf dem fixierten dach zu sein scheint. auch das singapore art museum in dem immer wieder spannende ausstellungen zu sehen sind. das nahegelegene ehemalige kloster namens chijmes wurde im jahr 1839 erbaut und wird heute als treffpunkt mit bars und restaurants genutzt.
chinatown is located directly in the center of singapore and offers a contrast to the sci-fi buildings of the marina bay. the two-storied houses are designed in a completly different way. furthermore it seems like the whole hood is a marketplace wehere you can buy allmost everything. even the side streets are very clean in singapore. the national stadium was designed by dp architects and opened in the year 2014. especially the retrectable roof construction offers an interesting view because of the extendable part, which seems to be floating over the fixed construction. however the singapore art museum is situated directly in the center as well and offers nice exhibitions. the former abbey named chijmes, which is located near by, was build in the year 1839 and is used as a Meeting place with bars and restaurants nowadays.
