marina bay sands – moshe safdie architects
das im jahr 2010 eröffnete resort umfasst ein casino, ein hotel, ein konferenz- und ausstellungszentrum, ein einkaufszentrum, ein kunst- und wissenschaftsmuseum, zwei theatersäle, diverse verpflegungsmöglichkeiten, bars und nachtclubs sowie zwei schwimmenden pavillions und wurde von moshe safdie architects entworfen. wobei das hotel aus drei 55-stöckigen türmen die auf 191 m höhe einen 340 m langen dachgarten mit 146 m langem infinity pool tragen. inspiriert wurde der architekt bei diesem entwurf durch einen stapel von spielkarten. das science-fiction artige gebäude ist sehr beeindruckend und bietet einen tollen ausblick auf die gesamte stadt. besucher die nicht im hotel nächtigen können die aussichtsplattform, mit dem namen skypark, oder die bar aufsuchen. direkt neben dem hotelgebäude liegt das artscience museum. dieses ist der form einer lotusblüte nachempfunden und beherbergt interessante ausstellungen. auf grund der fensteröffnungen, am ende der sich nach oben biegenden blütenblätter, ist eine indirekte belichtung der ausstellungsräume mit tageslicht möglich, dies führt zu einer angenehmen lichtstimmung im inneren. der „kunstpfad“ beherbergt 7 installationen von 5 künstlern, darunter sol lewitt, antony gormley und zheng chongbin. bei den gardens by the bay handelt es sich um ein 101 hektar grosses parkareal, dass sich auf künstlich aufgeschüttetem land befindet. das ziel der regierung war es die gartenstadt in eine stadt im garten zu verwandeln und damit die lebensqualität der einwohner zu verbessern. es ist empfehlenswert sich in der shoppingmall eine mitgliedskarte für den marina bay club zu besorgen, da durch diese vergünstigungen bei den eintrittskarten gewährleistet werden. alles in allem wirkt der gesamte komplex wie von einer anderen welt oder aus einem film. so unrealistisch, surreal und bemerkenswert.
the resort which contains a casino, a hotel, a conferenzcenter, a shoppingmall, a art&science museum, a theater , bars and nightclubs was opend in the year 2010. furthermore the complex was designed by moshe safdie architects and the apperance was inspired by a deck of cards. the hotel consists of 3 towers that are holding a 340 m long roof garden, in the hight of 191 m and a infinity pool that has the length of 146 m. even when you don’t spend the night at the hotel it’s possible to visit the skypark, which is a observation deck, or the bar at the top. because of that you can get a great view at the whole city. the artscience museum, which has the form of a lotus, is located directly next to the shoppingmall. because of the curves of the leafs it’s possible to get a diffuse illumination of the exhibition spaces. that leads to a nice atmosphere inside of the building. furthermore the art path includes 7 artworks from 5 artist, for example from sol lewitt, antony gormely and zheng chobin. the gardens by the bay are located on an artifical land, at which the government wanted to increase the quality of life of the inhabitants. It’s a good idea to get a membercard of the marina bay sands at the shoppingmall because than you get some benefits when you buy ticktes for attractions of the complex. all in all the whole ensemble seems to be from a diffrent palnet or a movie. It’s so unrealistic, surreal, scientific and remarkable.
