die kirche wurde vom architekten fritz gerhard mayr in zusammenarbeit mit dem bildhauer fritz wotruba entworfen und 1976 eröffnet. der einfluss des bildhauers ist auf grund der plastizität des gebäudes deutlich zu erkennen. so wirken die betonblöcke wie aufeinander geworfene quader, die einen innenraum mit poröser hülle erzeugen. insgesamt besteht die konstruktion aus 152 rohen blöcken. besonders imposant und mysteriös wirkt das bauwerk bei nebel. schön, in dem sinn in dem dieses wort im normal fall verwendet wird, ist das gebilde nicht, aber die ästhetik entsteht durch die einfachheit der elemente die wiederum durch die verschachtelte anordnung verschwimmt und einen offenen raum mit einer zum teil begehbaren fassade erzeugt.

this church was designed by the architect fritz gerhard mayr in cooperation with the sculptor named fritz wotruba and opened in the year 1976. the influence of the sculptor can be seen right away because of the plasticity of the construction. furthermore the blocks that are made of concrete seem to be throwen on each other and create a interior space with a porose cover. all in all the construction consists of 152 blocks. especially when it’s foggy the sculptural building looks very imposing and mysterious. i have to admit that this structure can’t be called beautiful, in the way this word is used normally, but the aesthetics results from the simplicity of the elements that is triggered by the shuffled Arrangement of the blocks and produces an open interior room with a facade that is walkable partly.
